        A Lunchtime Look
        at May Place
        The May Place estate was the principal
        country seat in Crayford and the
        Jacobean mansion was once the home
        of Sir Cloudesley Shovell, admiral and
        commander-in-chief of the British Navy.
        We shall look at the history of this estate and some of its owners & residents
        using materials we hold here at the Centre.   Tickets £2.05

        adventures of Mary Kingsley


        After her youth in Bexleyheath, Kingsley
        set out on her own to explore West
        Africa. This talk will look at the life of
        a woman who would let neither the
        conventions of the times nor the wildlife
