NCRA has received the following warning from Cray Meadows SNT :
---------------------------------------------------------
Dear Resident,
Can I take this opportunity to make you all aware that we are having an increasing number of items,
including mobile telephones, being delivered to elderly residents on the borough. The packages are
sometimes in grey bags and can have an iPhone and sim card (normally Vodaphone) inside with a delivery
note but no invoice AND NO NAME ON THE PACKAGE.
When the package is delivered the occupiers then receive a phone call posing to be from the delivery or
telephone company. While on the phone they state that there has been a mistake in the delivery and they will
send someone round to come and collect the package.
Some informants have stated that the callers have become threatening on the phone and one elderly resident
stated that she has received 10 phone calls in one night.
It is believed that these items are being purchased on the internet by using stolen credit/bank cards.
It is important that you do NOT accept delivery of a parcel that has not been ordered by yourself or anybody
in the household, especially when the parcel has no name on it.
