(h) Rupert Brun of The Grove expressed concern for commuters as the train service was getting
worse. And more houses were being planned, leading to even more crowded trains. James said
that he had met with the Transport Minister etc that morning on local train issues. A new
franchise would come in 2018 but looking at the infrastructure now and until 2018 it was
unsatisfactory – although the improvement of London Bridge station might makes things better.
He agreed that as regards capacity, reliability and communication the SE Rail service was not
good enough, although SE Rail was trying to get some additional rolling stock in the face of
some difficulty here. James assured the meeting that he was pressing the Minister to get better
train services, and there was to be a Public Meeting soon on SE Rail and Network Rail at the
Holy Trinity Church, Lamorbey. He added that he had also been talking to the London Mayor,
eg TFL have taken over some overground services, and something might be possible for SE
London. Meanwhile, James said, be assured I am on the case!

In closing the AGM, and again thanking Don and James, and everyone else who had attended,
David mentioned that Spitfires would be flying over Ruxley next Saturday (20 June) at 11.30am.

                                                               The meeting closed at 9.45pm
