Ideally we would have undertaken the work in a phased approach over a few years. However severe reduction in Grounds Maintenance revenue
budgets next year and the year after, has meant phasing of the work was not possible. Although it does look stark now, many of the plants will quickly
regenerate in the spring to provide cover for wildlife as well as providing a visually pleasing stream-side scene.

I am sorry that your members may have been misinformed and unnecessarily alarmed at the Council’s actions in this matter and I hope the forgoing
provides you with the reasons for undertaking this necessary work.
